The Glasurit Golf Day at Randpark’s Firethorn Course featured the launch of the Glasurit 100 Line. Thirty teams enjoyed networking, with Dino’s Panelbeaters winning first place. Non-golfers attended the prize-giving, hosted by Dan Nicholl. The event highlighted the Glasurit 100 Line’s sustainability, faster process times, and superior colour accuracy.
30% OF CAR OWNERS NOT REPAIRING PAINT WORK
A YouGov survey revealed that one-third of British car owners neglected small paint repairs due to cost and convenience. 56% found repairs too expensive, and 25% considered them inconvenient. While 24% would attempt DIY fixes, 48% preferred professional services. Younger and older drivers reported fewer cosmetic damages than millennials.

The Derrick Mwango Foundation, a non-profit organization, aims to align African skills development with global standards. They are spearheading an auto body and spray-painting program for WorldSkills Africa, launching in 2025. Partnered with organizations like Africa Pride Insurance and Aer-o-cure, they seek collaboration to boost skills and industry standards in Africa.
HYUNDAI EXTER LAUNCHES LOCALLY
After 18 months of negotiations, the Hyundai Exter has been launched in South Africa. Originally designed for India, this 1.2 compact crossover SUV offers a stylish, sporty design with features like an 8-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Exter is priced from R269 900 and offers excellent value.

44% OF AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS READY TO SWITCH TO EVS, WORLD RESEARCH SHOWS
According to Accenture’s Jens Wages, while many customers are open to purchasing electric vehicles (EVs), 46% remain uncertain, and 10% are uninterested. Car theft in the UK remains high, with nearly 130 000 vehicles stolen annually, and 77% of cases unsolved. Despite improved car security, thieves use sophisticated methods like keyless theft. Experts call for more police resources and task forces to address the ongoing issue, which is driving up insurance premiums.
ADAS FALSE ACTIVATION EVOLUTION
In recent years, advanced safety systems like ABS, ESC, and ADAS have improved vehicle safety but introduced new challenges, particularly false activations. Issues like malfunctioning sensors or misinterpretations by ADAS technologies, such as automatic braking or lane departure, require careful diagnostics, calibration, and understanding of the system’s specific activation criteria.
CHINESE EV MAKER NIO SLAMS “UNREASONABLE” US AND EU TARIFFS
NIO founder William Li criticized the EU and US for considering tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, calling the actions unreasonable. He emphasized that expanding EV use is vital for climate change efforts and global development. Li argued that these measures hinder progress, highlighting China’s competitive advantage in the EV sector.
