AXALTA DELIVERS MARKET-LEADING FAST CURE LOW ENERGY TECHNOLOGY WITH SPIES HECKER SPEED-TEC
Axalta continues to drive industry productivity through its established patented Fast Cure Low Energy (FCLE) technology. Delivered via the Spies Hecker Speed-TEC System, this advanced technology provides body shops with unmatched workflow efficiency and a significantly reduced environmental footprint. By focusing on continuous technical optimisation, Axalta reinforces its leadership in delivering innovative solutions that help refinish businesses do more with less, maximising daily vehicle throughput while supporting more sustainable operations.
FCLE technology leverages a revolutionary in-house chemical design that utilises both ambient humidity and temperature to accelerate the drying process reducing gas consumption by up to 50% and electricity use by up to 48%. The new Speed-TEC clearcoat delivers a durable, scratch-resistant finish with an exceptional gloss and premium appearance that meets OEM specifications, ensuring that every repair adheres to original factory standards. This allows high-volume body shops to optimise their workflows and deliver premium finishes without compromising on process speed or technical compliance.
Lucian Jantjies, Refinish Business Manager for South Africa at Axalta, says, “Our primary focus is driving continual technological innovation to make the entire paint repair journey faster and easier. The Spies Hecker Speed-TEC System delivers the perfect balance between high-speed performance and low energy consumption. It can air-dry at 20°C while matching and even exceeding the high-volume productivity of traditional, high-temperature baking systems, slashing total refinish cycle times by up to 50%.”
A key component of this system is the Spies Hecker Speed-TEC HS Speed Surfacer 5560, engineered to reduce complexity in the preparation phase. It also simplifies the portfolio as it’s one surfacer for both sanding and wet-on-wet applications. To further streamline daily workshop operations, the surfacer is available in three foundational colours: White, Gray, and Black.
The FCLE technology delivers substantial benefits: reducing spray booth occupation time by up to 47%, decreasing carbon footprint up to 49%, total energy cost saving up to 49%, and dramatically reducing process emissions. Furthermore, the low-temperature curing capability provides the technical flexibility required to safely repair temperature-sensitive electric vehicles, a critical requirement for future-proofed body shop operations.
Jantjies concludes, “The Spies Hecker Speed-TEC System represents a smarter approach to modern refinish requirements. We are empowering businesses to achieve brilliant aesthetic results and optimal operational efficiency simultaneously because speed means nothing without flawless results.”
The full Spies Hecker Speed-TEC System is available in South Africa through Axalta’s importer, Eazy Paint, located in Midrand, Gauteng.
