Founded nearly 53 years ago, Star Body Works has grown into a world-class collision repair centre in Ruhr Street, located in Windhoek’s busy northern industrial area. Under the leadership of Managing Director Dick Cornelissen, the company has expanded through three major relocations – each to larger premises – to keep pace with growing customer demand.
From its humbler beginnings to its current state-of-the-art facility, Star Body Works has built a reputation for precision, reliability, and exceptional service. The family-run business boasts a loyal customer base and is an approached repairer for many of Namibia’s leading insurance companies.
The workshop is equipped with the latest collision repair technology, ensuring it can handle both structural and cosmetic repairs on modern vehicles. Ruan Meyer, workshop manager, has played a key role in staff training and skills development, notes that the team stays ahead of fast-changing automotive designs by sending technicians to specialised training with major vehicle manufacturers.
Star Body Works’ repair process begins with accurate chassis alignment and full restoration to factory specifications, followed by a dedicated preparation section for foundation coating and painting. Only genuine factory replacement parts are used – a commitment that reflects the company’s please to deliver world class results.
The refinishing department is designed for speed and quality. With five full spraybooths in constant operation, the team delivers flawless paintwork on every job. Adriaan Tromp, brand manager Colour Perfect at Cymot highlights the strong partnership: “We provide Star Body Works with ongoing technical support and solutions to colour-matching challenges, with over 90 000 global automotive colours now in circulation of our close collaboration ensures consistently high standards.”
The company’s workforce includes second- and third – generation employees – a testament to the strong culture and steady workflow. Much of this business comes from Namibia’s top 10 motor insurance companies, with Star Body Works repairing all makes and models to factory-approved standards.
