RUVANN BRINK ACHIEVES FIRST VDQ CERTIFICATION
It only takes one person with the courage and vision to pave the way for others to follow. In a South African, and world first, Ruvann Brink has qualified with the Vehicle Damage Qualification (VDQ) certification.
Insurers and repairers are subjected to ever growing demands on cost effectiveness due to increased safety features and parts pricing on vehicles. The focus of the VDQ skill is to understand and apply relevant knowledge of vehicle body construction, active and passive safety system, mechanical, electrical and other intricate information used to restore a motor vehicle to as good as new after an accident.
With 504 credits – more than many B-Com degrees – this is a tough qualification to attain. It is also equivalent to a level NQF 4 and can achieve a level 5 and 6 after adding extra information in the future. To pass there is a level of 70% on the theory and 80% on the practical. A very high standard indeed.
With the help of IT-C and the full support of Telesure Investment Holdings (TIH), where Ruvann is employed, he took full advantage to realise this goal. Ruvann’s path was that of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), as he has already been working in the industry for several years.
TIH have been so impressed with the qualification, that they have enrolled all their assessors onto the course via RPL with IT-C, a first for the company, that will stand themselves, and the industry, in good stead for the future.
The VDQ qualification will only increase skills to meet the needs of the avalanche of new technology already seen throughout vehicle models on the road, and in the future.
