NISSAN NAVARA STEALTH
Nissan Navara Stealth, proudly built in South Africa, has long set the standard for everyday reliability, versatility, and performance on African roads. Now updated and refined, the new Stealth looks tougher, drives smoother, and packs in more features for daily drivers and weekend adventurers alike.
The new Navara Stealth lives up to its name with sleek blacked-out trim detailing and orange accents on the front bumper, side steps, and mirrors with LED headlights adding to its stealth-like appearance.
The Stealth is well equipped with a nudge bar and sports bar as standard spec, and distinctive Stealth badging distinguishes it from the rest of the Navara range. Large 17-inch black alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres really finish off the tough look.
Under the bonnet is Nissan’s trusted 2.5-litre turbo diesel engine, delivering 140 kW of power and 450 Nm of torque which is more than enough muscle for towing, carrying loads, or tackling tough trails. Fuel consumption was 10.3 litres per 100 km, not too bad for such a large vehicle!
Power is delivered through a smooth changing seven-speed automatic transmission which felt strong and reliable. The Stealth comes in 4×2 (rear-wheel drive) and 4×4 (four-wheel drive) versions, giving buyers options based on their driving needs and budget.
Inside, the Stealth feels premium thanks to black leather-trimmed seats, door panels, and armrests. A larger touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay dominates the centre of the dash and provides all the connectivity you need to run your apps with USB-C ports in the front and rear, to keep everyone’s devices charged. Despite this, the Navara Stealth does still feel a bit old tech, but perhaps that’s considered for the market it’s targeting.
The system also includes a reverse camera and rear parking sensors, making tight parking spots much easier to handle. The Stealth is also equipped with six airbags and other important safety features to keep you and your passengers protected. Keyless entry and a push-button start together with a quality sound system add to the overall ease of ownership experience.
One of the Navara’s standout features is its coil-spring rear suspension, which gives it a noticeably smoother ride. Whether you’re driving on tar or tackling rough gravel roads, the Stealth offers confident handling and a comfortable drive. The return of the Stealth also highlights the strength of Nissan’s Rosslyn plant. This locally built model proves the factory’s ability to deliver custom variations like the Stealth without slowing down production. It also opens the door for exports across West and East Africa.
The Stealth now joins the Navara Warrior and PRO-4X as part of Nissan’s growing line-up designed specifically for African conditions and customers. Prices start at R695 200 for the 4×2 and R779 200 for the 4×4.
