GOOD THINGS GUYS PARTNERS WITH FORD TO LAUNCH THE “GOOD THINGS RANGER”

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (Manufacturing) (Pty) Ltd (“Ford”) and Good Things Guy have launched an exclusive partnership that will put a proudly South African-built Ford Ranger to work in support of communities across the country.

As part of this partnership, Good Things Guy founder Brent Lindeque will take delivery of a South African built Ford Ranger XLT Double Cab 4×4, dubbed and branded “The Good Things Ranger”. This Ford Ranger will provide practical mobility support to 24 selected non-profit organisations and community initiatives across South Africa.

Under the banner “Ranger People Do Good Things”, the partnership will turn the awareness generated through Good Things Guy’s platforms into practical action for people and organisations that need mobility most.

“Our work on the Good Things Guy creates a lot of awareness about the wonderful things happening around our great country. I am so excited that now, for the first time, we can take that awareness and close the loop and turn this into an action that can be seen and felt in communities all over the country,” said Good Things Guy founder Brent Lindeque.

The campaign will identify at least 24 non-profit organisations and community initiatives across South Africa where the Good Things Ranger will become a practical driver of positive change. Rather than simply telling the stories of people doing good, the locally built Ford Ranger will help them do a lot more, from transporting people, equipment and supplies to reaching communities and supporting projects by providing the practical mobility needed to turn good intentions into action.

The South African Champion

It is a fitting starting point for a campaign focused on doing good for South Africa. Ford has been part of the country’s automotive industry since 1923, while the Silverton Manufacturing plant is a major global manufacturing hub for the Ranger and exclusive production hub of the Ranger PHEV for export.

Today, the facility has the installed capacity to produce up to 200 000 vehicles a year, or as many as 720 vehicles a day, with a Ford Ranger rolling off the production line approximately every two minutes. Rangers built in Pretoria are exported to more than 100 markets around the world. The plant was recently recognised as the best-quality Ford Ranger production facility in Ford’s global manufacturing system. In the local market, approximately one in every four bakkies sold in South Africa is a Ford Ranger, which held between roughly 27% and 36% of its segment on a month-by-month basis during 2025.

“When we announced that we are committed to being a South African champion, we were clear that this was not defined by our words, but rather in our actions. The Good Things Ranger is exactly this – taking one of our home-grown Ford Rangers, already South Africa’s most popular Double Cab, and turning into a visible and active driver of this commitment,” said Neale Hill, of Ford Motor Company’s Africa Operations.

As part of the campaign launch, Lindeque collected the bespoke Good Things Ranger directly from the production line at Ford’s Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria.

“There’s something particularly meaningful about handing Brent the keys to this Ford Ranger on the very production line where it was built. The Ranger is a product that South Africans know and understand, but we wanted to demonstrate another side of its capability: what happens when you put its versatility and toughness to work for people who are making a difference in their communities. We are taking a vehicle made in South Africa and using it to do good things for South Africa,” said Hill.

From telling good stories to making them happen

For more than a decade, Good Things Guy founder Brent Lindeque has made it his mission to tell a different side of the South African story.

The platform has grown into an award-winning, multi-platform media operation dedicated to finding and sharing stories about ordinary South Africans doing extraordinary things.

Lindeque’s work has earned extensive recognition, including being named a Lead SA Hero, a Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South African, a Talented Young South African Entrepreneur and one of the Most Influential Young South Africans. Good Things Guy itself has also been recognised repeatedly as the South African Blog of the Year, featured among the 100 Best Global Websites, and named among the Top 25 African Blogs to follow as well as the Top South African Blog to follow.

“For years, Good Things Guy has been telling South Africa about the people who choose to make a difference,” says Brent Lindeque, founder of Good Things Guy. “This campaign gives us the opportunity to go one step further and actually help them do it.”

“There are incredible people doing extraordinary things in every corner of this country. But good intentions don’t always come with the resources to make them happen. Sometimes what is needed is simply a way to get there, move something, deliver something or reach someone who needs help. That’s where this Ford Ranger comes in,” said Lindeque.

One Ranger and 24 Non-Profit Organisations

The Good Things Ranger will travel across South Africa supporting selected non-profit organisations and community initiatives. Each partnership will have its own story and its own purpose, with the common thread being the practical difference that mobility can make.

“Over the last few months we have worked with the Ford team to select 24 partner NPOs who can best benefit from direct access to mobility,” said Lindeque.

The Ranger will carry supplies, equipment and people; help organisations reach communities; support events and initiatives; and provide a capable and reliable means of getting important work done. In this way, the Ranger becomes more than a vehicle. It becomes a primary driver of change, helping organisations overcome one of the most fundamental challenges they face: getting people and resources to where they are needed.

The vehicle will also be instantly recognisable on South African roads thanks to a bespoke Good Things Ranger design, turning it into a moving symbol of the drive to do Good Things wherever it goes.

Good Things Guy will document each collaboration throughout the year, showcasing not only the organisations being supported, but the people behind them, the challenges they face and the difference that can be made when the right support reaches the right place. These stories will come together in a special Good Things Guy book, capturing the people, places, partnerships and good things made possible by the Good Things Ranger, and stories will be available on both Ford From the Road and Good Things Guy itself.
