TAKING A CLOSER LOOK AT CHRISTINE BOORMAN AND DR SMASH
With over two decades at the helm at Dr Smash, Christine Boorman, national manageress, has a true passion and proven track record for the auto industry.
Spending many a school holiday helping out at the family panel beating business definitely helped give her an insider’s edge in understanding the systems needed to make day-to-day business much easier for a collision repairer.
The highlights for Christine are the relationships she’s developed over the years. “I love watching how people grow in themselves and in business once we have helped them understand how Dr Smash works at its best.”
Being a woman in a mainly male-dominated arena has proven difficult at times, but Christine has risen to the challenge of breaking these stereotypes and has done so with elegance and enthusiasm.
The system’s asset is its simplicity in use for its customers. Dr Smash is broken up into bite size chunks so the end-user only needs to learn their job without getting caught up in the processes of those around them. Each of these processes link to each other and Dr Smash prides itself on its “only type it once” policy, which distributes information throughout the Dr Smash programme, resulting in huge time savings and data that is reliable, consistent and easy to capture.
Dr Smash has packages that range from basic quoting all the way through to full financials with job productivity, payroll solutions and everything in between. The system can be used by any size business and can be customised around each client’s specific needs.
Being a smaller team definitely works in their favour. They are able to achieve quick turaround times in developing systems as well as develop more personal relationships with each customer.
“2022 proved to be an interesting year to say the least, with many new and expanded systems coming online. The most anticipated of these was the Audatex integration which had been a goal of Dr Smash for many years and finally came to fruition.
“This is one of the major steps towards automating the process that the industry needs to save time and ultimately make our client’s lives easier.
“2023 is a year of great change for Dr Smash. There are many new systems and structures that we are planning to release which will change the way we do business and open up a field of opportunities for growth and product expansion that the industry hasn’t seen from our team in a few years.
“Our Goal is to get these new systems in place and running efficiently, so that 2024 can springboard off 2023’s success and give us the opportunity to really bring positive change to the industry. We have managed to do this in the past and can’t wait to bring enhanced value to our customers,” Christine concluded.
Classic COrner & REStoration
Classic cars are the next big investment. As such the sector of restoration is growing in the realms of collision repair and it’s definitely the “sexier” side of the business. There are many opportunities to create exotic special-builds as well as keep timeless beauties in mint condition.
DRIVEN
With three motoring-journalists on our staff, we are able to test drive and review some of the latest models available on our roads as well as attend the latest model launches.
TRAINING
Knowledge is power. Training is key to up-skilling repairers as models launch onto our local roads faster than we can count. We also need to grow new talent into the collision repair industry. Courses are available to help and organisations are in place to train - this information is in Industry Index.
