Glasurit, a leading name in automotive refinishing, is committed to providing high-quality, sustainable solutions that meet the needs of today’s automotive repair and restoration professionals. As part of BASF Coatings Services, Glasurit champions both innovation and environmental stewardship, ensuring that excellence and responsibility go hand in hand.

In a remarkable showcase of talent and determination, Kai, a seventeen-year-old from South Africa, is making waves at the WorldSkills competition in France. Representing South Africa in automotive spray painting, Kai’s journey is a testament to his skill and perseverance. His unique challenges as a deaf and autistic individual have not deterred him, but instead, they have become a part of his inspiring story of success.

BASF Coatings Services is proud to be a part of Kai’s journey and to support him in this prestigious event. The company has played a crucial role in his preparation, offering specialised training at their state-of-the-art facility in Midrand, Gauteng. This training has been instrumental in honing Kai’s skills, ensuring he is well-prepared for the global stage. This support from BASF and Glasurit is a testament to the power of collaboration and shared goals in achieving success.

Aside from his remarkable technical abilities, Kai’s dedication to his personal project car, which he is currently restoring, is truly inspiring. This hobby not only showcases his deep love for automotive work but also his unwavering commitment to perfecting his craft. His personal project stands as a testament to his dedication and enthusiasm, qualities that have undoubtedly contributed to his success.

As Kai competes in France, his story serves as an inspiring example of how talent, hard work, and support can overcome barriers and lead to extraordinary achievements. BASF is honoured to be a part of this journey and looks forward to seeing Kai’s continued success in the world of automotive spray painting.

Celebrating our young representative’s journey to WorldSkills, Glasurit remains steadfast in its mission to promote professional excellence and environmental sustainability. Our support for this event aligns with our broader goals of fostering talent and advancing eco-friendly practices within the automotive industry.

We are eagerly looking forward to the display of skills at WorldSkills and are excited to witness our representative’s shining performance on the international stage. This will be a demonstration of the perfect blend of talent, inclusivity, and sustainable innovation.

Classic COrner & REStoration

Classic cars are the next big investment. As such the sector of restoration is growing in the realms of collision repair and it’s definitely the “sexier” side of the business. There are many opportunities to create exotic special-builds as well as keep timeless beauties in mint condition.

DRIVEN

With three motoring-journalists on our staff, we are able to test drive and review some of the latest models available on our roads as well as attend the latest model launches.

TRAINING

Knowledge is power. Training is key to up-skilling repairers as models launch onto our local roads faster than we can count. We also need to grow new talent into the collision repair industry. Courses are available to help and organisations are in place to train – this information is in Industry Index.
