PPG LAUNCHES PPG DP7000 AIR DRYER PRIMER AND D8177 RAPID PERFORMANCE CLEARCOAT
PPG (NYSE:PPG) has launched PPG DP7000 Air-Dry Primer and a range of dedicated ancillaries across automotive refinish markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
PPG DP7000 primer saves body shops time and energy thanks to fast air drying, thus helping to increase productivity and profitability and reduce environmental impact.
The PPG DP7000 Air-Dry Primer is a premium two-pack acrylic primer that is fully compliant with European VOC regulations. It is suitable for use with PPG ENVIROBASE® High Performance basecoats, and all other PPG topcoat systems. It dries up to twice as fast as competing air-dry technologies and works in all humidity conditions.
Baking or infrared curing can be also carried out when air drying is not appropriate.

PPG DP7000 Air-Dry Primer is available in three grey shades to allow optimisation of the topcoat colour. It is easy to prepare, mix and apply, and offers flexible dry film thickness and superior sanding properties.
Coupled with the launch of PPG DP7000 Air-Dry Primer is the availability of D8177 Rapid Performance Clearcoat, another example of the commitment from PPG to our customers.
D8177 is a high quality clearcoat that not only provides the fastest baking times in the market, but also offers enhanced flexibility and significant energy savings. This is done without compromising the ease of use or the appearance of the final finish.
D8177 requires only five minutes bake at 60˚C, and the ability to apply this product in a one visit application further enhances process and time savings. The improved air-dry capability (dust free in 20 mins) offers further potential to save energy.
The speed and high quality final finish of Rapid Performance Clearcoat does not come at the expense of ease of use. It has excellent flow and application polishing is easy and in the unlikely event of any rectifications be required these can be completed quickly and easily.
