LUXOR NAMED NUMBER ONE VALUE BRAND

This is an amazing result for the locally owned 53-year-old Luxor paint maker. The refinish market has its sights firmly fixed on value brands that always deliver reliable, top quality performance in the ranges that span a vast array of industrialised and commercial coatings as well top level refinish brands.

In a national market survey conducted last year, the Carvello range distributed by Luxor Paints was a clear winner against other value brand competitors.

Company founder, now all of 80-plus years-old – Ronnie Lurie – who is an accountant by trade, began the business by making body fillers in his garage at home. He and his team have become long-term survivors in the trade by constantly adapting to the ever-changing refinish business. “It is the company’s long standing and loyal customer base that has helped us achieve this recent accolade as the top value brand,” says managing director, Kevin Lurie. “Understandably it is our enduring relationships that have become the vital part of serving the trade that we supply.”

Competing against the world’s top automotive coatings companies has become a priority in the company operations in the last two decades. The Jet Park based company in Johannesburg have employed top class in-house technical staff in research and development for their current ranges of Carvello, Autogold and Xcéla refinish systems which are their pinnacle quality products for the general trade of refinish brands on offer currently.

Luxor have also expanded their national distribution centres to six which are based in Johannesburg, Polokwane, Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein, to provide adequate stock availability to their customers. “The company also have a mammoth set of distribution partners in their network, which stands at approximately 500 refinish and industrial supply companies. This allegedly dwarfs our competition somewhat,” said Kevin.

In a business where you need to sleep with one eye open, Luxor Paints have kept pace with the all-important colour tools that collision repair shops require in advanced technology. Rapid colour computer formula’s and spectrophotometer colour reading machines for both solid colours and basecoat metallics is what they offer. Their standards in reliable top quality product has driven the company to become the top value line range in Southern Africa at this time.

It is a golden nugget moment for the decades of hard work, effort, and foresight. They are also the national distributors of Indasa abrasives – a top Portuguese global brand. Luxor Paints are a one-stop-shop, right from entry level coatings through to abrasives, body fillers, putties and protective coatings. There is a enormous range to choose from to suit your body shop or refurbishing desire.

At the end of the day, this family-operated company can take pride in a job well done. The company operation will continue in their drive to be the best local paint supplier across diversified markets segments.
