HYUNDAI VENUE

As one of Hyundai South Africa’s best sellers, and with 17 162 vehicles sold since its launch in 2019, the Venue has been given a fresher look with a few nips, options and enhancements. The addition of the Venue N Line is a top line variant in this offering and will appeal to those who enjoy a trendy and sporty look.

There is a bold new grille in its updated appearance up front. At the rear, it’s a whole new redesign. The boot door is now wider and the tail-lights are joined by a horizontal strip joining them thus creating a very cohesive look.

The new Venue is again launched with three specification levels and two different engines: the Motion as an entry-level derivative, followed by the Fluid version with more design and convenience features; and topped by the N Line variant with its unique signature design features. There are altogether six variants in the 2022 Venue model line-up.

The updated Venue has an all-new infotainment system that has a touch screen system. Consumers and their kids will appreciate available convenience features such as a USB and USB-C ports, a Supervision 4,2-inch TFT LCD display to show useful information, a rear-view camera and Bluetooth, hands-free, phone operation.

Motion and Fluid derivatives are equipped with a manual air conditioner, while the N Line features an automatic air conditioning system. Venue N Line-drivers can also enjoy the luxury of a sunroof. Air vents for the rear seats keep passengers cool in the 1.0 Turbo Motion and Fluid variants, as well as the N Line version.

The Venue’s suspension tuning provides a very good compromise between passenger comfort and confident vehicle control. The suspension and steering deliver a combination of control, balance, optimisation, and ground clearance to achieve utility and manoeuvrability in a small vehicle footprint.

The new Venue boasts a comprehensive list of standard safety features including six airbags Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is a standard feature in all Venue 1.0 Turbo Motion, Fluid and N Line derivatives. Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), which balances braking forces at each wheel when the car is dynamically loaded, and Brake Assist, which provides maximum ABS-level braking force to the driver when an emergency stop is necessary, is standard equipment throughout the range. All Venue 1.0 Motion, Fluid and N Line variants also come with Hill Start Assist Control.

There are some funky colour options on the Venue and include a Fiery Red and Denim Blue. The N Line derivative have additional choices of three two-tone colour schemes as well.

Prices start at R294 900 for the Venue 1.2 Motion manual through to R499 900 for the Venue 1.0 N Line model. Hyundai SA have also upped the ante with their seven-year/200 000km warranty.

Classic COrner & REStoration

Classic cars are the next big investment. As such the sector of restoration is growing in the realms of collision repair and it’s definitely the “sexier” side of the business. There are many opportunities to create exotic special-builds as well as keep timeless beauties in mint condition.

DRIVEN

With three motoring-journalists on our staff, we are able to test drive and review some of the latest models available on our roads as well as attend the latest model launches.

TRAINING

Knowledge is power. Training is key to up-skilling repairers as models launch onto our local roads faster than we can count. We also need to grow new talent into the collision repair industry. Courses are available to help and organisations are in place to train - this information is in Industry Index.
